Karoo Moose
The first production in the Tricycle theatre's South African season combines traditional African storytelling with magical realism.
Karoo Moose is the award-winning play by South African playwright and director Lara Foot Newton, which was first staged at Baxter Theatre Centre, Cape Town.
Karoo Moose is a story of pain, redemption and hope, which combines traditional African storytelling with magical realism. The story centres on Thozama, a young girl struggling to survive in a remote and impoverished village in the Karoo, South Africa. A violent and terrifying incident and a chance encounter with an escaped moose change her life forever.
The entire cast from the Baxter Theatre Centre staging of Karoo Moose come to the UK to reprise their roles in the production, which recently won eight awards in Johannesberg.
