Through A Glass Darkly
Almeida Theatre, Almeida Street, LondonThrough A Glass Darkly centres on Karin, a young wife, an older sister and an only daughter. Her kaleidoscopic interior world is a constantly changing picture, where the boundaries between the everyday and the holy defy distinction. Karin's family has taken her on a recuperative holiday. On a bleakly beautiful island where their relationships become increasingly entangled, as the three most important men in her life prove increasingly incapable of helping to cure her, Karin decides to take control of her own destiny.
Written and directed by Sweden's Ingmar Bergman, Through A Glass Darkly won the 1962 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. It was the only one of his films that Bergman allowed to be adapted for the stage.
Through A Glass Darkly is directed by Almeida theatre Artistic Director Michael Attenborough.

- Discounts: available for all disabled people and their companions.
- Limited mobility: 23 seats in the front row offer the best leg room.
- Access description: Level access to foyer through automatic sliding doors or through double glass doors opening both ways. Wheelchair users can push a button to open the sliding doors. Box Office with lowered counter in the foyer. Stalls down 6 steps or a sloped walkway. Access to circle via 2 staircases of 27 steps each with handrails on each side. Good signage throughout. The floors in the foyer are concrete.
- Hearing impaired: Infra-red assisted hearing system in the auditorium and an Induction Loop in the Box Office
- Guide dogs policy: Allowed into auditorium - please book an aisle seat. Staff are also happy to dog sit.
- Wheelchairs: 2 spaces for wheelchair/scooter users in the stalls. 8 wheelchair and scooter transfer spaces are available to aisle seats in rows A and B – escorts not required. Theatre also provides 1 wheelchair for loan. Auditorium is carpeted.
- Toilets: Accessible men’s and women’s in the foyer, each with 1 cubicle that is wider and has handrails for people with mobility difficulties.
- Disabled toilets: Adapted toilets inside the foyer by the lift.
- Bars: Level access to Café Bar located just off the foyer area. The Café Bar has wooden floors, moveable seating and offers table service. Section of bar counter is wheelchair accessible (80cm high). Menu available on blackboard written in white chalk and in large print. Drinks may be brought to disabled customers in the auditorium.
