The Gods Weep

Hampstead Theatre, Eton Avenue, London

The Gods Weep focuses on the life of a ruthless CEO whose entire existence fragments around him as he loses his grip on reality.

Colm has taken a lifetime to build his empire. With brutal rigour he has shaped the world around him in his own image.

When his decision-making abilities increasingly fail him, he attempts to divide his empire but the world he has created rapidly begins to fracture. The power struggle that ensues reveals the corruption and unstoppable forces at work in a world where corporate greed and state security frighteningly overlap.

The Gods Weep author Dennis Kelly is an acclaimed and multi award-winning playwright whose recent work includes Orphans (Traverse/Birmingham Rep/Paines Plough); DNA (National Theatre); Taking Care of Baby (Birmingham Rep/Hampstead theatre); Love And Money (Manchester Royal Exchange/Young Vic) and Osama The Hero (Hampstead theatre).

The Gods Weep is directed by Maria Aberg who recently revived her Royal Shakespeare Company production of Roy Williams’s Days of Significance for a UK tour from October 2009.
