Pippin is Stephen Schwartz’s imaginative and darkly humorous coming-of-age musical.
Pippin, heir to the throne of Charlemagne, is searching for beauty, glory, fame and magic, but in doing so has to come to grips with lust, sex, war, politics and religion.
When Pippin was first staged on Broadway in 1972, directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse, it ran for over four years and collected five Tony Awards.
This ‘high-concept’ revival of Pippin, directed by Mitch Sebastian, incorporates Fosse’s original choreography.
Pippin is the latest in a line of high profile musical revivals at the Menier Chocolate Factory, following successful productions including Sunday In The Park With George, Little Shop Of Horrors, La Cage Aux Folles, A Little Night Music and Sweet Charity, which all subsequently transferred to the West End.

- Limited mobility: The entrances to the cafe and the gallery areas both have 3 steps and automatic doors. There is a ramp to the right of the cafe entrance which leads to a fire door, which can be opened to give level access to the cafe, and from there the gallery can also be accessed.
