Filumena
Almeida Theatre, Almeida Street, LondonFilumena is set in late 1940s Naples and tells the story of Filumena Marturano, who is lying on her deathbed waiting to marry Domenico Soriano, the man who has kept her as his mistress for 25 years. But no sooner has the priest completed the ceremony than Filumena makes a miraculous recovery. As he reels in shock, Domenico discovers that this brilliant, iron-willed woman has a few more surprises for him.
The role of Filumena is played by Olivier-winning actress Samantha Spiro, who makes her Almeida debut. Her previous work includes Hello, Dolly! at the Regent's Park Open Air theatre, which won her an Olivier, Funny Girl in Chichester, Two Thousand Years and Cleo, Camping, Emanuelle And Dick at the National Theatre and, most recently, Chicken Soup With Barley at the Royal Court.
This version of Filumena is adapted by Tanya Ronder, who has previously adapted Lorca's Blood Wedding for the Almeida and Vernon God Little at the Young Vic.

- Discounts: available for all disabled people and their companions.
- Limited mobility: 23 seats in the front row offer the best leg room.
- Access description: Level access to foyer through automatic sliding doors or through double glass doors opening both ways. Wheelchair users can push a button to open the sliding doors. Box Office with lowered counter in the foyer. Stalls down 6 steps or a sloped walkway. Access to circle via 2 staircases of 27 steps each with handrails on each side. Good signage throughout. The floors in the foyer are concrete.
- Hearing impaired: Infra-red assisted hearing system in the auditorium and an Induction Loop in the Box Office
- Guide dogs policy: Allowed into auditorium - please book an aisle seat. Staff are also happy to dog sit.
- Wheelchairs: 2 spaces for wheelchair/scooter users in the stalls. 8 wheelchair and scooter transfer spaces are available to aisle seats in rows A and B – escorts not required. Theatre also provides 1 wheelchair for loan. Auditorium is carpeted.
- Toilets: Accessible men’s and women’s in the foyer, each with 1 cubicle that is wider and has handrails for people with mobility difficulties.
- Disabled toilets: Adapted toilets inside the foyer by the lift.
- Bars: Level access to Café Bar located just off the foyer area. The Café Bar has wooden floors, moveable seating and offers table service. Section of bar counter is wheelchair accessible (80cm high). Menu available on blackboard written in white chalk and in large print. Drinks may be brought to disabled customers in the auditorium.
