‘Tis Pity She's A Whore

Barbican: Silk Street Theatre, Silk Street, London

Following their triumphant productions of The Tempest and Macbeth at the Barbican, director Declan Donnellan and designer Nick Ormerod turn their attention to Jacobean tragedy with a new production of John Ford’s ‘Tis Pity She's a Whore.

In this violent and bloody drama, we watch a brother and sister’s passionate descent into hell. Incest and the corruption of morality and religion make this play as shocking and controversial today as it was almost 400 years ago.

Barbican Artistic Associate Cheek by Jowl is one of today's most celebrated UK theatre companies and has toured to over 300 cities in 40 countries.
