Going Dark

Young Vic, The Cut, London
Going Dark at the Young Vic

Following its success in the Clare studio, Sound&Fury’s immersive production Going Dark returns to the Young Vic’s Maria Studio to ask more cosmic questions.

How far can you see? A mile? A hundred miles? Or to the furthest shores of the universe to a far away galaxy? As a narrator in a planetarium, it’s Max’s job to ask these cosmic questions. But living in a society that pollutes the night sky with light and is happier to explore the stars in a waxworks museum, he feels increasingly out of place. When, in Going Dark, his life is suddenly turned upside down, Max discovers that understanding the universe requires a different kind of vision.

Prior to this production, Sound&Fury stunned audiences at the Young Vic with claustrophobic submarine-set drama Kursk. In creating Going Dark, they conducted detailed research with astronomy and visual perception experts before using projection, lighting and sound technology to make their immersive idea a reality.
