Goodnight Mister Tom

Phoenix Theatre, Charing Cross Road, London

Goodnight Mister Tom is a classic children’s novel, a touching story set during the dark and dangerous build up to the Second World War. When William Beech is evacuated to the English countryside, he is sent to live with the elderly recluse Tom Oakley. An unlikely pairing at first, their relationship grows and blossoms, until everything is torn apart when he is summoned back to London.

This production of Michelle Magorian’s award-winning wartime story was written for the stage by acclaimed children’s playwright David Wood and previously played a much-lauded season at the Chichester Festival Theatre before embarking on a successful UK tour.

Oliver Ford Davies, who plays the Mister Tom of the title, is a regular performer on both stage and screen, having appeared in 26 productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company, won a Best Actor Olivier Award for his performance in Racing Demon and starred on screen in productions including the Star Wars prequels and current hit Game Of Thrones.

This show is taking part in Get Into London Theatre, our annual promotion offering discounted tickets for more than 50 of the capital’s hottest productions. Book now.
