The 1988 Oscar-winning film Rain Man is brought to the West End stage at the Apollo theatre.

Rain Man tells the story of Charlie Babbitt, a self-centred Los Angeles-based car dealer and hustler. Relationships are not Charlie's forte and love is quite outside his experience. Raymond is the elder brother Charlie never knew he had; an autistic savant who has been hidden away in an institution for most of his adult life. Raymond is dysfunctional in many senses, but – as Charlie discovers – he is also touched with a kind of stellar genius which Charlie harnesses to save his business. Together, the two brothers embark on a journey which shows Raymond a world beyond the hospital gates and Charlie the meaning of unconditional love.

Hollywood star Josh Hartnett makes his London theatre debut in Rain Man playing Charlie Babbitt (the role played in the film by Tom Cruise). Hartnett's many hit films include Pearl Harbour, Black Hawk Down, Virgin Suicides and The Black Dahlia.

Adam Godley, who plays Raymond, has a wealth of stage experience including appearances in Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle And Dick, and Mouth To Mouth, receiving Laurence Olivier Award nominations for both.

Rain Man director Terry Johnson is prolific both as a director and writer. Among his London theatre productions are One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, which starred Christian Slater, Hitchcock Blonde, Entertaining Mr Sloane, The Graduate and Dead Funny.
