Come Dancing

Showing at: Stratford East, Theatre Royal

Box Office: 020 8534 0310

Age: General

Genre: Musical

Sub Genre: Musical (Drama)

Come Dancing is set in the 1950s around the Ilford Palais ballroom and tells the universal tale of love triumphing over adversity. An expansion of The Kinks's single of the same name, Come Dancing is a coming of age tale infused with the intoxicating energy for which Saturday nights at the Palais were well known.

The Kinks front-man Ray Davies, the musical maestro behind hits such as Waterloo Sunset, You Really Got Me, All Day And All Of The Night and Lola, has penned 20 new songs for this world premiere production, for which he also co-wrote the book.

The team behind Come Dancing also includes director Kerry Michael, whose production of The Harder They Come transferred from Stratford East to the West End via the Barbican, writer Paul Sirett, who wrote The Big Life which also transferred from Stratford East to the West End, and Terry Johnson, the playwright of hits including Dead Funny and Hitchcock Blonde.
