Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical, which receives its UK premiere at the Palace theatre, is a new musical based on the hit Oscar-winning film of the same name.
The heart-warming plot of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical follows three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus (nicknamed Priscilla) searching for love and friendship but end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed. With a dazzling array of outrageous costumes and featuring a score of dance-floor classics, this new musical follows a journey to the middle of the Australian outback and to the heart of fabulous.
After making its world premiere in Sydney in October 2006, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical has become one of the most successful Australian musicals of all time. Among the dance floor classics which have made it so popular are I Will Survive, Finally, Boogie Wonderland and Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
Don Gallagher, who plays Bernadette, has appeared in the hit West End production of The Producers, in which he played Roger De Bris, the National Theatre productions of His Dark Materials and Stuff Happens, and many shows with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Richard Grieve is known for his appearances in Australian soaps Home And Away and Neighbours as well as UK soap Emmerdale.
Oliver Thornton, who has appeared in West End productions of Rent, The Phantom Of The Opera, Les Misérables and Chicago, completes the leading trio.
The production of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical at the Palace theatre features nearly 500 costumes, and boasts over 100 wigs, 160 masks, more than 150 pairs of shoes and almost 200 hats and headdresses per performance. Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner won the 2010 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Costume Design for their work on Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical.

access description: 2 steps up to the foyer, through a set of double swing doors. Box Office level access through first door on Shaftesbury Avenue. Box office with lowered counter for easy wheelchair access. All stairs have highlights and handrails on both sides. 3 steps down from the foyer to the Stalls, 30 steps up to the Dress Circle, 56 to the Upper Circle, 77 to the Balcony, which is very steep. Theatre open 45 mins before performance.

guide dogs policy: Guide dogs allowed inside the auditorium, alternatively staff can dog-sit (maximum of 4 guide dogs per performance).

One 3cm step into the theatre and a slight incline to the Stalls which has 1 space for a wheelchair/scooter user and their companion at W27. Transfer seating available to any Stalls aisle seat (maximum of 4 wheelchairs and 1 scooter can be stored at back of Stalls).
toilets: 10 steps down from the Stalls to women’s and men’s, and further women’s and men’s off the Dress Circle Bar and at Upper Circle and Balcony.
