Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical, which receives its UK premiere at the Palace theatre, is a new musical based on the hit Oscar-winning film of the same name.

The heart-warming plot of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical follows three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus (nicknamed Priscilla) searching for love and friendship but end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed. With a dazzling array of outrageous costumes and featuring a score of dance-floor classics, this new musical follows a journey to the middle of the Australian outback and to the heart of fabulous.

After making its world premiere in Sydney in October 2006, Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical has become one of the most successful Australian musicals of all time. Among the dance floor classics which have made it so popular are I Will Survive, Finally, Boogie Wonderland and Girls Just Want To Have Fun.

Jason Donovan makes his return to the London stage in Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical. The former pop star and Neighbours actor plays Tick. Among Donovan’s other credits in the West End are Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Sweeney Todd.

Donovan is joined by fellow Australian Tony Sheldon, who plays Bernadette. In addition to appearing in the original production of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical, Sheldon’s work includes Private Lives and Into The Woods for Sydney Theatre Company and Long Day’s Journey Into Night and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum for Australia’s Main Street Theatre.

Oliver Thornton, who has appeared in West End productions of Rent, The Phantom Of The Opera, Les Misérables and Chicago, completes the leading trio.

The production of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The Musical at the Palace theatre features nearly 500 costumes, and boasts over 100 wigs, 160 masks, more than 150 pairs of shoes and almost 200 hats and headdresses per performance.
