Surreal stand-up comedian Eddie Izzard brings his new show Stripped to London's Lyric theatre for a limited run.

Critically acclaimed show Stripped was the hottest ticket in America this summer, including three sell-out dates at New York's legendary Radio City Music Hall.

Izzard has been hailed as one of the foremost stand-ups of his generation. He takes ideas and situations and extrapolates then into bizarre, tangential, absurd and surreal comic narratives.

Since his first stage appearance in London’s West End, in 1993’s Laurence Olivier Award-nominated show Live At The Ambassadors, there have been a succession of sell-outs and critically acclaimed international tours. These have included Unrepeatable, Definite Article, Dress To Kill, Glorious and, most recently, Sexie, which was seen at Wembley Arena in 2003. Stripped will be his first large-scale return to the London stage in the last five years.

Izzard’s musings have earned him countless awards including two Emmys. While initially renowned as a comic, Izzard is also now equally respected as a film, theatre and TV actor. He has appeared in movies including Velvet Goldmine, Mystery Men and Ocean’s 13, and provided voices for the Psammead in Five Children And It and Reepicheep in the Narnia films Prince Caspian and The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader (due for release in 2010). His hugely successful FX drama The Riches is currently being screened all over the world and this autumn he will appear on the big screen opposite Tom Cruise in the highly-anticipated Valkyrie.
