The Quiet Island of the title is a Greek island where teenager Vick is searching for her father, a music icon who walked out of a family party five years ago and vanished. Two sightings posted on her wesbite offer real hope that she may find him there. On the same island, Sean and his wife Charlotte are trying to recover from the recent accidental death of their child. A brief encounter hurtles Sean into a cyber world of die hard fans and a dangerous obsession with Vick, a girl out of control.
A Quiet Island is the latest play by Adamson, whose work has previously been seen at the National Theatre (Southwark Fair, Mrs Affleck, an adaptation of Ibsen's Pillars Of The Community), the Bush (Clocks And Whistles, Drink, Dance, Laugh And Lie) and the Old Vic (Grace Note, All About My Mother).
Director Indhu Rubasingham has previously directed Another America: Fire and Chain Play II at the Almeida. Her other credits include Free Outgoing and Sugar Mummies at the Royal Court, Pure Gold at the Soho, Fabulation at the Tricycle and The Waiting Room at the National.
