Maria Friedman, one of the West End's most popular and respected stars, returns to London with her solo show Maria Friedman: Rearranged, which premiered at the Menier Chocolate Factory earlier this year.
Accompanied by a live 11-piece orchestra, Friedman takes to the stage at Trafalgar Studios to perform new arrangements of songs by some of the world's most renowned composers and popular artists. The show includes work by Irving Berlin, Leonard Bernstein, Jerry Herman, Michel Legrand, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Kate Bush, Randy Newman, Stephen Sondheim, Charles Strouse and Suzanne Vega. These special new versions have been arranged and orchestrated for Friedman by Jason Carr, David Cullen, Michael Starobin, Jeremy Sams, Jonathan Tunick and Chris Walker.
Friedman won her first Laurence Olivier Award in 1995 for her first solo show, By Special Arrangement. She went on to win two further Oliviers for her performances in the musicals Passion and Ragtime. Friedman's impressive career on the London stage also includes Chicago, Sunday In The Park With George, Lady In The Dark, The Woman In White and Sweeney Todd. She is also a successful solo recording artist and concert singer.
Maria Friedman: Rearranged is directed by David Babani, Artistic Director of the Menier Chocolate Factory. The programme at Trafalgar Studios includes many of the songs from the Menier production, plus some enticing additions.
