"Lovingly ripped off" from Monty Python And The Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot retells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table (one of whom has to push the pram a lot). The classic tale of a heroic hunt for the Holy Grail is augmented with catapulted cows, bloodthirsty rabbits, an over-acting diva, slanderous Frenchmen and gratuitously under-dressed showgirls.
Monty Python's Spamalot, which features book, lyrics and music by the third tallest Python Eric Idle, won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. Among the original score of the show is the much-loved song stolen from another Python film, Life Of Brian, Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
Current King Arthur Sanjeev Bhaskar is best known for writing and starring in television comedy shows Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars At No. 32. He was the fifth in line to the throne, following previous Kings Tim Curry, Simon Russell Beale, Peter Davison and Alan Dale. Bhaskar occupies the throne until the end of the show's run at the Palace in January 2009.
