Betty Blue Eyes star Reece Shearsmith will join Jim Broadbent in the Bush theatre’s special gala performance of The Chapel Of Unrest this Friday.

The reading of screenwriter Stephen Volk’s chilling piece is being held at the West London venue on 15 March to raise money for the acclaimed company, which is well respected for its history of presenting work by emerging artists and attracting a host of famous names to its stage.

Best known for his part in cult comedies The League Of Gentlemen and Psychoville, Shearsmith’s recent stage work includes West End productions of Absent Friends and Ghost Stories. On film the actor has appeared in Burke And Hare, Shaun Of The Dead and This Year’s Love, and is soon to be seen in the forthcoming A Field In England.

Shearsmith and the Cloud Atlas star Broadbent will be directed in Volk’s drama about an undertaker who decides to bring his daughter back from the dead by the Bush theatre’s Artistic Director Madani Younis.

Guests at the gala performance will also receive a pre-show gin and tonic from the evening’s sponsors Sipsmith and enjoy post-show entertainment. Tickets cost £100 and information on how to book can be found of the Bush theatre website.
